i will ask again.i want to fit a split charge system on my 110.last time i got no help even though some of the answers were quite funny.i have got 2 optima batteries but they are too tall and the seatbox cover could short out the batteries.i have seen these batteries wired up this way so are there different heights of optimas or is there maybe something different with my defender(doubtful)

There are split charge systems available on ebay, the TMAX one looks quite good although i haven't got experience of using 1.
Double battery trays are also available to fit under the passenger seat in a def90/110
The batteries could be sold in different sizes/capacities might be worth a google

Not a fan of optima's however it sounds like you have the wrong type. I have the T-max split charge system on my 90 with 2x Numax batteries squeezed in and all I can say is all of them have been fantastic!
