Hi everyone,

I have wired up a T-Max split charge kit to my Defender 110:

T-Max Digital Monitor Split Charge Dual Battery System - JGS 4x4 Land Rover Parts

It all works correctly, there are no faults...

Except... The solenoid gets too hot to touch, it only gets hot when it is "active." I can understand that with a solenoid there will be resistance from the coil that will generate heat, however it radiates so much heat it seems dangerously hot.
All connections are tight, there appear to be no short circuits. Has anyone else got this set up, if you have, please confirm if the solenoid gets as hot as I have suggested. I don't want to be running it thinking it is normal for it to be so hot and actually having a short circuit.

Any other thoughts? the lowest successful operating voltage for the coil is 6v, maybe a resistor to knock a couple of volts off the coil might help the problem a bit???

Any thoughts?

All the best, James
