Hi all

I have bought a split charge tmax system to fit to my discovery 1. I'm looking to run winch off a second battery and friend with same set up as I'm looking to get says only use an optima yellow top battery for the winch power, now looking around the net I came across this

http://www.tayna.co.uk/Numax-CXV24MF-P3126.html

Just wondering if anyone is using them for winch power as spec looks better than the optima from what I can tell but no expert and it's half the price?

Also need a new battery as a starter battery would this one do for that as it has a high CCA which I be leave matters?

Thats what I'm running in my D1 as my main battery. I'll be getting another for the secondary when I get my arse into gear - got all the wiring and relays etc from my previous Td5 installation which I removed when I sold the old girl.

Its been a great battery for me, but I don't have a winch, only been using it to run the fridge and lighting etc.

I had a pair of Odyssey batteries on the Td5 which were ok, but to be honest they weren't any better than the pair of normal batteries that I was using before getting the Odysseys - hence my decision to stick with a pair of Numax 1000s this time around.

Cheers for that so that sounds like it's going to be fine as starter battery just need some advice with anyone who is running one with a winch if there is anyone out there?

Leisure batteries are designed for a slow gradual load.
Starter batteries are designed for short bursts of very high current, so in my opinion a winch should be ran from a starter battery not a leisure battery
The Blurb mentions both which I find confusing, have you spoken to them and asked?
You want the highest CCA that will fit in the space

I have sent them an email asking if this would be good as a starter and a winch battery or if not what they would suggest but no reply as yet? Is the yellow top optima not a leisure battery aswell?

I have 2 numax battery's but the 100ahc XV27MF. They both fit in the front one left and one right, but a few adjustments do need to be made. It's very tight but works. My main use is overlanding, so fridge, lighting and so on. I have used the battery's for winching when off roading and they seem to work fine, but it's not something I do often. I have an IBS split charge system that has an intelligent display. It allows me to link the two battery's together for winching. I am pleased with the batterys.

I also have one of these from Tayna, though I am just about to return it under warranty as it seems to be faulty. Hopefully the replacement will be ok. Mine is just used for starting, though it does run quite a few extras as well like cameras, phone chargers, extra lights etc.

The one I have had been good up until now.
