I have just got a Defender 90 200TDI, with an interesting speedo. The needle jumps and doesn't stay still, also it clicks, getting louder and faster as the speed increases. The cable has been changed, but I think the speedo needs changing. Is this an easy job? any advice where to get one from and how to do it would be welcome.

Try oiling the cable first though. If you grease the cable towards the speedo end and leave the last few inches unlubricated this will stop oil getting into the speedo head where it could collect dust etc.

Thanks, I am waiting for my ordered Haynes manual so I can find out how to get to the speedo, any tips?

Thought my speedo was telling porkys,being over generous,just got tomtom sat nav for my landy and the gps detects your speed and outputs it to the screen,and guess what,my speedo is bang on,not been telling porkys at all.

If it's behind the steering wheel take it off! you'll get to the speedo eventualy.
