My Classic's speedo is not working so I've got hold of an identical instrument panel from another Classic and swapped them, but it still doesn't work.

I suppose it's possible the new instrument panel has the same fault, but logic says it's at least as likely that there's something else in the speedo system that might be fecked further up the line.

Where is the best place to look next?

Is it a electronic or cable driven unit? if electronic try geabox speed sender, or if cable try same but i would put a flap of tape on end of cable take for drive and see if it turns. if not then check see if broken by turning it fron gearbox end. if ok it the box sender, if not it the cable

Speed sensor is most likely. If you drive the Rangie and the EFI warning light comes on, and the idle is playing up then almost certainly speed sensor.

hoo sorry I assumed it'd be same as me disco.. Serves me right for making assumptions.

Bloody weird things them Rangies

cable (like a normal speedo cable but 12 inches long)to speed transducer..where they said it is.~(under car).then speedo transducer itself..then speedo "relay".(thats under dash rhs kick panel, its white)..then wiring between them..
