I need to source some steel for some chassis repairs (about 2.5mm thickness I think)... where do you guys get yours from? Do you buy new from a supplier, or do you go to a metal recyclers and get it from there?

I have some 3" x 2" box section that I could cut up and use, but I think it's too think and won't weld to the chassis correctly...

YRM do chassis repair sections if your struggling locally

Who are YRM?

Basically there are 6 repairs that I need to do - both bulkhead outriggers (easy to source) a patch on the LH dumb iron at the front, a patch both sides to the rear of the chassis by the crossmember and a patch to the LH rear shock mount.

Most reasonably sized towns have a sheet metal business somewhere near, so all you have to do is go along and ask the floor manager if you can have a look through their scrap bin!

It has never failed with me, and once you get talking about Landies you might even get them to offer to cut and fold whatever you need.

YRM Metal Solutions - do various metal panels n steel stuff for Landies

Im more than happy to supply steel , trouble is price of post.
I buy sheet ten ton at a time to get a good price and I would pass on that on, I dare say most people would want bits id normally chuck in the scrap
