My series 3 hardtop petrol as you know ain't the quietest car in the world, has anyone here soundproofed the bulkhead etc at all? If so, does it work, look retarded and such? Any advice?
 
best thing i ever did was carpet the roof on my doosil series 3, helps absorb all the really bad ear splitting high frequency noise. then put some ear plugs in to sort out the rest of the noise! :D
 
try getting felt underlay(ooks like old blankets)stick it down wi spray glue the lay any old carpet ye can get also wi spray glue worked a treat in me van an me 110
 
I shaped some carpet and carpet underlay to fit the bulkhead, transmission tunnel and floor and screwed it on with self tapping screws. It has cut the noise massively, but as my Landy leaks the carpet has gone mouldy and it stinks. I think I'll try to replace it with some thick rubber next.
 
i definitely wouldn't go the carpet route.my bulkhead and footwells had been covered in carpet and the metal had all but disappeared!
 
suprised no one has mentioned it but flashing does the trick nicley, also got its own adhesive on one side.

works great inside door panels and under bonnet, you aint gonna get no water trapped behind it either, reflective on one side for noise, and being rubber its takes away some of the vibration.

no cheap, but cheap enough.

It's got me thinking I was planning on using close cell foam Laminate flooring underlay. or cheap camping mats. You can get both of them foil backed as well. But then I'd still have to get smething to stick it on with. This would solve that problem. Fixed enough leaky roofs/broken slates with it myself. Fook knows why I didn't think of it myself.

so, say get a roll of that timbermate stuff, then seal it off round it with the flashband?

that'd be damn cheaper than most things i've thought of, and thered be enough for the whole 109"
