Hello All,
the buttons for the horn aren't working, doesn't honk. The horn seems ok as the alarm went off during the farmers market:rolleyes: guess in full lock with dog inside. The fuse is ok as well, I assume otherwise the alarm wouldn't work either. What would be next? The spring thing ebay spring ?
Is it easy to change or a big deal to get it sorted?

The clock spring is the likely cause. It is possible to swap the wiring pins over to unused tracks of the clock spring, say the cruise control tracks which are seldom used.
Otherwise it's a replacement job, which is pretty easy on the FL1.
 
Hi there, given that you say the horn works with the alarm but not the steering wheel buttons I think nodge is likely right about this. Although it may be worth checking/testing before replacing anything.
Looking at the wiring diagram it shows both the horn buttons and central control unit (alarm) control the horn by providing a ground to the coil inside the horn relay.
You can intercept this control wire (purple with yellow stripe) as it goes into the clockspring plug behind the steering wheel.
If you ground this wire and the horn blasts then the clockspring is at fault.
Depending on what equipment and skills you have you could try a repair like nodge suggested.

Thanks @Nodge68 will try that, having a cruise control, not sure if I can use but would go for the 18£ spring I guess.

Thank you Ross, will have a look on Rave if I can find the wiring.
 
Sorry, can't seem to get Rave working anymore on my pc/laptop. Is it the plastic underneath the steering wheel with three screws that I would need to open or is there something else to get to the spring?
 
Disconnect battery for 10 mins then remove airbag from steering wheel.
Edit...also remove steering wheel !!
Clock spring cable is then visible.

If you remove the steering wheel after the airbag you should find the clockspring behind it from memory.

Thanks Ross, Would you know which Torx it is? I have /tx15 but can't get it working. I tried a couple but somehow none seems to work, assumingly the screws are on the left and right of the steering wheel.

Hi, from memory I think it’s torx 30 x 2 at rear of wheel to remove airbag then a 19mm nut to get the wheel off. Been a while since I had mine off, I was just replacing the whole steering wheel due to wear. Be sure to leave the airbag pointing landy badge up incase it goes off or it’ll turn itself into a rocket lol.
 
Hmmm I had a T30 that's what I thought my eye would be telling me, but when it didn't work I went down and down and down. Ok will try now with proper light again, thanks.

Btw. proper memory all fine. Those plastic tunnels were loose and hindered a bit the screws. They are on the far right and left side, not centric on mine.

Yeah I remember some difficulty in getting the torx head into the screw. Might be an angle thing due to lack of space behind the wheel. Also hard to see round there. I might have rotated my steering wheel 90 degrees to get the screw from in front of the cluster, can’t quite remember.
 
Got it sorted, just wanted to say thanks to all contributors and leave a note
for future questions as I read in another thread. It comes with a blue plastic piece that needs to be broken of
to move it to the right position. Was already on the original one, just in case someone has this question.
