Just a word to say all the paved/tarmac roads over the Long Mynd have now snow gates installed so if any one crosses from either Medlicot or the bridges on green lanes towards Church Stretton you may not get down the Burway into Stretton for petrol, diesel,, fags, pasties etc :)

aye, nice one. Haven't been over that way for a while.

So are yo unsaying they have only gated one end?

No the Trust guy I was talking to said that there will be gates on the bottom of Asterton gliding club end and also at Ratlinghope . I think its to keep cars off the steep decent of the Burway as every year there is at least one car stuck there.
The trouble is the burway is north facing and gets no sun in winter so never thaws, down in Stretton it may be warm but half way up the Burway ICE
there is a sign saying road not maintained in winter and danger of ice but it can look clear till you get beyond the cattle grid by then its to late .
And its the same coming down as the top of the hill may be frost free but as you start to d:eek down
