Hi can anyone offer any advice on what I should be checking please. TD5 2001 running great then lots and lots of black smoke from exhaust. Still turns ok but can not drive it due to the amount of smoke. It’s a black colour smoke and it’s constant while engine running.

Um ok so would that mean I am best getting a new fuel pump.or is there something more simple I should be looking at 1st or am I totally in the wrong.
Thank you

Depends if it's overfuelling or the air is restricted. Could be any number of things. check for a restriction in the air intake first

Make sure that all the turbo hoses are tight or not leaking... though the best would be to plug in a tester and read live data. Is it D2 or Defender ?

not on landy but a golf gtd had an injector stick open but not all time so kept fuel rail preasure up enuf to run but smoked like a **** and go into limp mode rearly stank of fuel as well
also as been said blocked intake

Any other symptoms? Could be a split turbo hose, does it smoke at idle or only when it starts to pull.

Thanks for your help guys it turned out to be a collapsed pipe from the intercooler. Replaced with silicone one and running perfect. Thanks again all
