Hi all
I recently bought a range rover vogue td6 2005, it's got 82,000 on it and the first thing I did was the simple checks and fluid levels and replaced the air filter with a K&N performance one, I know it's a big vehicle but it seems a bit on the sluggish side and the auto box seems to rev really high before changing up, any ideas how to give it a bit more pep?
Thanks

At 82,000 miles the torque converter is getting ready to fail on that model. K&N was a waste of money it will do nothing for you at all.

Drain the Gearbox fluid and change the filter....check the fluid and see what condition it is in....it is a good telltale for the condition of the box.

Do you have any history on the car regards gearbox servicing or replacement??

The GM5 box on the TD6 suffers major failures around 80-90K miles - search the forum for posts about it and the causes (I have posted many recently).

The ZF box on the V8's can be saved, but if the GM box on a Diesel lets go, majority of the time it can't be saved and a total rebuild or a replacement box is required.

Budget £2k plus for a recon box fitted or 1200-1600 for a rebuild aslong as the failure hasn't cracked the case!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the TD6 is notorious for wrecking its box.....internet and goooooooooooooogle searches will bring up a wealth of information.

If it is revving high before changes it is slipping. Bad news, the old owner got rid before a big bill landed on their doorstep.
