Just thought id share this experience

I brought a 200tdi to replace the 2.25 petrol in my 90, without seeing it run and with a few parts missing (never again)

anyway time came to start it up and it turned over really slow, i thought it was the battery so i replaced it with a bigger one, next my earth cable started to melt (it did look a bit ropy) so i replaced that. i just thought all this was because of the extra current it takes to turn a diesel over compared to a petrol

when it started the RPM went quite high straight away and it stopped shortly after.

I found one of the injectors very wet when i took it out and copper washer was missing, it must off been passing diesel all the time filling up the cylinder with diesel enough to make it hard to turn over.

I replaced it and it spins over faster and runs fine now

one thing that might of made this show is im using an electric fuel pump not the mechanical lift pump that seems to be working fine so far although i haven't gone to far yet
