Hi All,

Picked up a series 3 SWB this weekend, which is a little battered but a lot of fun!

I drove it 250 miles back from where I picked it up and can only discribe the steering as 'interesting'!

There is a fair amount of freeplay in the steering when you turn it, before the wheels actually turn, which, if you are distracted whilst driving, results in Crazy Ivans across the road

How can I get rid of this freeplay in the steering?

Thanks :)

its normal to have more freeplay than a normal car, there is adjustment on the steering box which you can get to from the front drivers wheelarch, it might stiffen it up while reducing free play, there is a bout 6/7 ball joints in the system which could aslo have free play and the drop arm at the front behind panel, need to check each of these if box adjustment dosent quite do it,

you could also live with it it does improve your attention !! The MOT man wil let you know if its too bad

Thanks for that steve, I will have a look see tomorrow.

You are quite right though......it does improve your concentration lol!
