Hello, got a disco 2 v8i - love it. First one, been tinkering on the inside, changed seats, cleaned out rust, started soundproofing. Got a what I can only describe as liquid slooshing from behind the radio. The central section. No more water in the front, no excess oil leak in the engine - anyone got any ideas? Happens when accelerating from standstill. Thank you.

To check the scuttle lift the bonnet and check the area below the windscreen, water could sit on top of the panel.
Heater box is behind the dashboard, would have thought it would leak onto the carpet though.

Heater box I think then, carpets were soaking. Rust under them. Have pulled them out and scrubbed/scraped, cleared and treated it. Thank you. I’ll let you know.

Like running water or bubbling dribbling water?

Air in the heater can cause watery sounds... either from air in the system, a leak allowing air into the system... or...

...

Shh... Head gasket issues...

I have a V8 Disco 1 that does the same. It was fine until I did a coolant flush and backwashed the clogged heater core. It's made the noise ever since, and I *probably* have a dodgy headgasket... but it never overheats, looses (much) coolant or pressurises the system... so I'm not really sure.
Mine generally makes the noise as the thermostat opens (I have a digital gauge reading from the area near the thermostat) or when I accerate after a long time of very gentle driving (when the water pump speeds up and probably moved them into the heater).

Hopefully it's not gaskets... a lot of people seem to get results from a really good bleed, using the fitting on the radiator and hoses or wherever the D2 has them.

Also, it doesn't matter if the heater in on hot or cold, the coolant circulates through the core regardless.

Soooooo it was gaskets. Just bought a 4.6 Thor v8 on eBay (65,000 miles) as the price difference with fixing them was negligible. I’ve been told this will fit in my disco - anything I should know before fitting? Will probably start a new thread haha.
