Hi guys,

While searching for leaks in my EAS today with open bonnet and engine running I noticed a single tac/clunk noise (not related to EAS) coming up periodically let say every 20-30 seconds. I couldn’t locate it but I would say it comes from the middle of the engine bay, on the front (but not the very end). Engine runs fine and I don’t have any problems. It doesn’t sound like an engine related noise. Could be a pump or a compressor (AC)?

This single sound is quite loud. Is it normal or I’ve something on its way out?

Spot on guys. Thank you. It is the air con compressor clutch.
Now the question is: is this noise normal?

According to RAVE the remedy for a noisy compressor clutch is replace the compressor.
As my air con still works I'm wondering if I could only fix the clutch instead.

I would say aslong as it is not grinding, squeeling or anything scary...the click-clunk is OK, don't forget the clutch has to be fairly manly to engage while the pully is spinning so will make quite a clunk as it engages....

Cheers Saint,

This is what I will do: Keep an eye on it and leaving the clutch as it is as long as it won't start doing anything scary :)
