D2- 2004 - 112k - Done the last three oil changes on this vehicle, but noticed the rear diff oil was rather like a silver milkshake when it came out.
Very fine slivers in the oil and shavings on the magnetic plug. Use EP90. Last change 6 months ago, 6k miles since.

No horrible noises as yet, but something is coming.

Anyone advise??????????? or had similar????????

getting water in an axle is not uncommon which gives the milky look ,as for silver its usually a sign of bearings etc wearing is there any play in diff flange

some metal filings on plug is normal ,if diff flange not loose and if you jack one wheel up and rock it it doesnt feel really slack probaly just water ,as said i often find one axle like it ,even with out wading ,one reason amongst others for regular oil changes ,which i see your doing:)

with one rear wheel jacked/braked and in gear, there is about 2" movement clockwise/anti clockwise before the drive shaft moves. normal? no sideways or horizontal movement on either rear wheels.
Just seems excessive the amount of silver oil that was dropped compared to the front.
