If anybody is interested in the main cooling hoses for a Disco 2 V8 please let me know. These would be the SAMCO XDB hoses - XDB - Explained - SamcoXDB - Xtreme Duty Silicone Hoses.

I'm currently in discussions with a reseller about getting the tooling made so that they can supply these. I'd need to foot the bill for the donor hoses and they'd cover tooling costs of tooling, thereafter anybody else should be able to get them at normal RRP prices, but the reseller wants to know there is interest before they wil commit.

silicone not the best for inside an engine bay if there are any petrolium products about.

Buy a silcone hose because its noticeable  why didn't I think of that, but then what's wrong with rubber hoses? all mine are original just as it left the factory that's 14 years so rubber hoses do last.

Nothing wrong with rubber hoses! Mine had been on 21 years and were still functioning as intended. They just looked like crap, so I replaced with silicone when I replaced the engine, I just fancied making it look nice and a bit different to the average rangey classic :)

is the top hose noticeble when you are driving lol

Yes, of course it is :)

I just thought why not make it look nice under there while doing the upgrade. It's not quite finished yet as i'm in the process of re-fitting the lpg components.

petrolium products disolve silicone

That's a bit like worrying about the poisonous fumes given off when rubber hoses burn. If you've got petrol or oil spraying around in your engine bay, you've got bigger problems to worry about than silicone hoses getting erroded

fair enough if you want to put shiny stuff in your engine bay - I don't see the point though

Silicon hoses have their uses, but are poor value for money, For a normal everyday car they offer no tangible advantages over the originals, but do add a bit of Bling to the engine bay, if that's what you're into.

Same goes for K&N air filters and similar products, 3 times the price (at least) and no real benefits.
