Good evening everybody!

The company I,am working for owns two LR:s one 110 and one SII from 1980. I have the opportunity to borrow the SIII because it is MOT:ed and insured. My deal is I keep it Traffic secure and oiled and all that. But I have driven it for some short distances, and I have found two issues.

1 The carb has a dead spot (really dead) if I stay in the lower third on the pedal the engines just dies, sparks just a little bit on the dark side of the scale not oily, not white, but quite normal. Any Ideas why this happens?
My backbone feeling is that I have to keep the choke on for quite a long time. (It has been many years since I had to deal with carbs)

2 The last time I startet it up it jumped forward ( gear one engaged, cluthch engaged) witch is the probable cause of this? slave or master cylinders or both? After pumpining it twice it worked flawlessly.

The damned thing is in a condition as new, lowmilage is NOT quite the the right description. I will never tell you the milage meter readings before my name is on the registration papers, which I am of course working on.

Cheers

right,
1,try bleedin the clutch but it sounds like the master cylinder is sucking in air (my S3 diesel did the same) when you buy the Master cylinder it would be wise to buy a slave cyl too as new master cylinders have a tendancy to kill old slave cyls,

as the yella one says sounds like the carb is full of shyte your best bet would be take it apart and give it a good clean out then re-build it with new gaskets, or replace it with a webber replacement kit

hope this helps

Hello again!

I took a closer look at my clutch master cylinder uhoh. A new set is on its way (both master, slave and hose). I wont even bother try change that brake fluid. I also ordred a kit for the zenith. I've read that I need to lift of the bonnet and (partially the) left wing in order to get out the master (LHS car). Is it as obvious as it looks to remove the bonnet open 90 deg and lift or do I need to unscrew the hinges?
And what about the left wing? sounds as a lot of work in my ears.

Cheers
/Peter
