I have recently had a recon. gearbox fitted and both before and after this I have noticed a whining at around 2000-3000 rpm. I tried the same with the vehicle in low range and the whining was even worse. Is this expected when in low range and if not does this indicate that the t/box is also do for a recon.

The disco has done 80k miles and apart from this it also has a knocking through the steering wheel. The official dealer says that this is normal because of the UJ steering shaft setup but I can't believe they would make them like this. Do these UJ's wear after time and would this cause the knocking?

On my series 3 I could adjust the steering box to tighten everything up when necessary but I am not sure if this is possible on the Disco?

Any help would be apprecaited.

Cheers
