I've had my new 2012 Defender 90 for a week so it was time to crawl underneath for a look ... and noticed there is a bracket on a chassis cross-member underneath the gearbox with a hole in it. Lining up with this hole there is a threaded hole in the bottom of the gearbox.

Is there supposed to be a bolt and a bush holding the gearbox to the chassis cross-member and Land Rover just forgot to put it in when the car was made ?

It sure looks like it. Thats the reason the gearbox crossmember is there. Maybe it was not tightened and just rattled out? I'd take it back and get them to sort it.

cant really see, has the gearbox got both mounts? if there only one then it is missing.
A customer of mine has a brand new 110 , loads of missing fixings, floor seals and screws missing out of the doors so everything fell apart etc etc.
He had to fight to get landrover to sort it!! good luck once you pay they really dont care!!
