I'm going to change the head gasket on my 2.5na next week when the parts arrive, there's been no serious issues just a little bit of smoke and pressure out the oil filler cap so I'm going to get it change before it gets worse.

If the heads fine IE not badly Warped is it worth giving it a small skim as a preventative measure, there's a local place that can so it for £35

Thanks
Chris

If you got them symptoms might want to look at the rings and lap the valves. why you think head gasket?

It's not that I think it's the head gasket it's more of I'm just going to replace it while it's all off. I'll have a google and see what the rings and lap the valves are. This is all new to me :)

the problem with skimming cats iron 2.5 heads is hot spots they should protrude but only by 2-3 thou ,if head face is unmarked where fire ring contacts i wouldnt bother except check carefully between valve for fine cracks

The head was actually ok just a little bit of gasket failure leading to a tad of warping which is away getting a bit of skimming but what about the engine block end, there is a little but of rust in it, is this normal?

2 of the push Rods where also bent. No sign of any other damage

not difficult ,though you may need to know what size and if others are ok usually its more than one though with one been more obvious

I've had a look and it's only about £25 for a set of 4 so I may as well change all 4 while I'm at it, is there anything else I need to order and or look at while I'm there?

Also with the little bit of rust on the waterways, should I be worried about them?

are you sure £25 each would be more likely and are they std +20 ,+40 etc

no its very good as far as block face goes it looks like its been skimmed in not too distant past ,theres a brass block drain on exhaust side of block you should undo it before removing head ,blow bolt holes out wel before fitting head back ,youd need new big end shells too

Was actually starting to think that :(, how hard is it to change the piston?

Something has caused the piston to crack. Might be a blown injector nozzle, or overheating. It would be good to find out what it was and fix before it breaks another!
