Just seen an N reg 3.9 ES with 90k on the clock. She is neat and tidy and ain't got too much rust. Should I spend 1.5k on a d1?

Yes. I would in a heart beat(Then spend all my money and time fixing the fecking thing) but hey ho the last 3.9 V8 is on its way out now :p

It's a yes from me ya bloody immigrant. :D:D:D

You will probably be better with a diesel though cos it won't take long for the cost of the fuel you have to put into it outweighing the purchase price of the vehicle.

Are you looking at it being a daily driver or a weekend/widget toy?

He's temporarily escaped but the fun went out of it when he started enjoying it anyway

When you say 'temporarily escaped' do you mean that he's rung childline again so that they could send him on another all expenses paid holiday with people buying him all the sweets and chocolate that he wants?

It usually takes a month before they realise that he isn't the sweet innocent schoolboy that he looks like.:D

Usually about the same amount of time it takes to discoved that the house no longer contains any wiring and the roof's started to leak :p

Sometimes he can get a bit OCD with it mind. Sometimes he'll sit there staring at pipework and rocking backwards and forwards whilst muttering about 'Gollums precious'.:eek::eek:

hmmmm, nothing changes then except the price of scrap copper...
obviously the v8 option is due to the fact that i am doing about 3k miles a year these days due to using my motorcycle more and more... plus i always wanted a v8 and as i age i am needing more comfort. Having access to a landy workshop and the entire LR parts catalogue helps too...

on a side note, how the devil are you all my old chums?

The problem with a motorcycle is that some fecker has already nicked 2 of the wheels before you even start out.:D:D:D

My first 110 was a V8 and it was my favourite of all the landys I've had. I have to admit the burble of a V8 does sound fantastic though. I was only doing low mileage in it but even so the fuel cost was crippling me so I ended up having to sell it to get a diesel instead.

If you haven't had a V8 before then I would say to go ahead and get it and see how you get on. At least if you do find the fuel costs excessive you can sell t and get a diesel instead and due to having ticked another one of lifes great wants off your list you can console yourself with it being another mission accomplished.:)

well by my reckoning, on the worst average of 14mpg vs the 50 odd i get on the xjr and only using the bus in proper inclement weather and for holidays and wotnot it should average out quite nicely... I am hesitant to go down the lpg route as i have never been a fan of running a post 1990 solihull machined v8 lump hotter than absolutely necessary for obvious reasons (sleeved ali block) I don`t think it is beyond the realms of reason and again being in the trade I can get parts cheap and have access to ramps... hmmmmm, taking mrs fleck to see it tomorrow, we shall see.
