Hello all, I am new to this forum but hope someone can help me.
My Freelander starts to shake and some banging noise when i go around corners or when I drive away and start to put some pressure on my acceleration . I think or i am pretty sure its my axel so have changed the brackets that keep it in place..its a little less but there is still some noise and shaking...no problems when i go straight or with speed ...seems only when it has to do some work?? Anyone with ideas besides setting fire to it?

Hi

Forum etiquette is to introduce your self first on the first page of LZ.

Then search VCU for starters.

Then possibly cry as somebody else posted on another thread like this.

Sounds like your VCU. Look at the sticky at the top and do Hippo's test.

I could be wrong. If that has gone there might be other transmission problems as well.

driveshaft on nearside breaking up internally, symtomatic of IRD failure

stop driving it in any case

Epicuser and Freelaner, thank you so much for answering ..my problem now is translating into spanish so my mechanic understands...thanks again and i let you know

Sounds like driveshaft failure, however it couldjust be loose wheel nuts- I've had that happen before and gives the same sort of knocking/banging as a failing shaft........
