Hi,
Sincere apologies if I have yet again managed to put this in the wrong place.
I recently had my 1997 Discovery 300 TDI MOT'd and serviced. It needed a new steering damper and track rod and the hub on the front drivers side also needed attention. Ever since then, the steering feels as though the front wheels are not on the ground. Furthermore, when I hit certain dips, pot holes or uneven camber, the steering shakes uncontrollably as if the wheels were not balanced and the car moves violently. On an even surface, all is well.
I saw on an earlier thread that often the drop arm ball joint needs replacing, but I am uncertain whether this was done at the time the track rod was changed, or whether that forms part of that.
My concern is that I tow a large caravan, and the weight will presumably make it feel even lighter on the front. Had I been towing today when the car reacted badly to uneven camber on the A14, I would probably have lost it.
Needless to say, everything was working well prior to the MOT. I have booked the car into the garage again, but will be really grateful for any ideas in order that I can convey this to the garage.
Kind regards and thanks
