I have two LWB series landrovers, I am putting the series 2 body on the series 3 chassis and sticking a v8 in it, and using it for offroading.

i have been out this morning and collected a carbed 3.5 V8 engine with a series coversion plate, but i have been told it is missing a spacer that fits on the gearbox side of the flywheel, SHOULD THERE BE? ifso does anyone know where i could get one, or if anyone knows the dimensions i may be able to machine one.

any more help that you could with the v8 conversion i would appreciate it.

Sam

Not so sure regarding the spacer, I do know of lads who have trimmed down the length of the shaft to ensure that the box faces up with the conv plate/flywheel housing. You'll need to widen your bulkhead between the footwells also. The series 2 box is the one to match the V8 to as it's stronger than the series 3 box. Although you will have 11" drums on the 109" I would seriously consider uprating the brakes.

Thanks for your advice guys, i had'nt given much thought to the brakes, which was a slightly bad idea!

Would it be possible to fit defender axles? modify the chassis to recieve coil springs as well? this would help with both braking and supension, if it is possible, any thoughts?

Which clutch and release components should i use?

Cheers, Sam

If you go for coils then it will have to go for an SVA test as you will be altering the chassis. Not only will you have a Landy on a "Q" plate your insurance will go through the roof. Trust me, I've been there.
