Hello new to site.
I have fitted parabolic springs,+2 in shackles, and now just bought +2 in pro comp shocks,to my series 2a swb.
The new shocks are a lot fatter than then originals and obviously longer.
I bought the coloured gaiters to go with the shocks.
On fitting them the rear shocks were fine, but the front shocks seem too big. They only have about 2in of downward movement as the shocks are compressed. Spoken to my uncle who has fitted the same and he said his are the same. Does'nt seem right to me . He rang pro comp and they said he had been supplied the correct shocks .
Has anyone else had this, or do i have to send them back.

Well the old shocks (original) the shock was fully extended. So you had the full length off the shock if you say hit a large bump. But with these new ones i recon the shock will bottom out as its so compressed. And if i didn't pull the gaiter all the way down to the bottom of the shock it would have been the gaiter not the shock doing the job.

so yer old shock was fully extended??, doesnt that mean that if you were to go over a camber with one wheel the other wheel would come off the floor as there was no travel left in the shock???

sounds like the shocks might be too long for the motor. realistically you should have as much travel to fully opened as to fully closed. sounds like your originals were too short. why not take em both with you and ask for some inbetween the two

Yes the shocks old shocks did do that off road as they had no travel left. But what gets me is that these are the shocks they supply. If i didn't have +2in shackles the shocks might as well be a lump of wood. If my uncle hadn't have had the same i would have thought it was a mix up

well ive got 2" lift shackles on my 88 and 1 ton lwb shocks. works fine for me. but then i never have been the sort to buy nice shiney things with pretty coloured gaiters with no purpose ;)

could yer not fit a new one on one side and a old one on the other side or how about one each on both sides

Your right bloody thing just can't help spending time and money on it. I have the bug. I will ring pro comp tomorrow. My advice to others would be yes buy them if u have parabolics but only buy 1 pair and fit them on the rear as they seem to work well. But at the mo the fronts are cr#p cheers yella u made my mind up as to the fact it's just not right

Yella Are the lwb shocks longer than swb ones as i have a pair in the yard and might fit them to the front and send the new ones back
