Hi does anyone know what the common problems were for the early 2.0 landorver engine in the series one (80"), thanks.

Rattly cams, carb problems, talk to Cox and Turner Engineering 01935 826816 they rebuild them still. Other parts from Dunsfold Landrovers Ltd 01483 200567
Early Series one 80 inch should have a 1600 engine.

thanks for the reply, do this engine reconditioning company/ firm, alter the engine to run on unleaded fuel, and i said early sereis one 2.0 engine because i heard somewhere there was a change with the 2.0 engine in mid 50's, as there were more problems with the early 2.0 engine in the series one. thanks again, dan.

Cox and Turner can do anything in the reconditioning process I am given to understand. The earliest 2 litres are different to the later spreadbore engine, I would have to revert to the guru book "Original Series One" on the subject for actual details of what is different. I only know they altered the bore spacing for a variety of reasons.
The Series One Club did have valves produced for unleaded conversions some time ago but there are none listed now in the Club Shop. Join the Club as there are far more knowledgable people around on the subject than me.
I have 2 of the later spreadbore engines in my shed together with a 2 litre diesel for a Series One as I have a Montego turbo diesel in my 86 inch just if I sell it someone may want to revert it to an original powerplant.
