I'm new to this. I need some split pins to fit the castellated nuts on my Series 2A rear axle half shafts under the dust cap. I ordered some thinking they were the right ones but they were far too big.

I see on the Paddocks Spares site there are different split pin options - they are not described in terms of gauge or length though, but as "corresponding to 2393", for example, and other numbers.

Is that a part number? I checked my Haynes Workshop Manual and Land Rover Series 2 and 2A Repair Operation Manual (big green book) but don't see part numbers listed.

Where can I find parts numbers for everything on my Series 2A Land Rover? Does such a thing exist?

Cheers!

Do a web search for Smithies landrover should bring up a NZ website where you can down load them in pdf format.

Cheers! I need a pair of 2428. :)

This part number alone doesn't help me on the Dingocroft or Paddocks websites.

Bearmach do take part numbers in their search box though, and list some split pins for Defender/Disco/Range Rover etc. that are labelled as "Supersedes 2428", so I will try those.

A bent bit of welding rod can come in handy but no part number.

I usually measure the hole in such circumstances and buy stainless ones off eBay.

Is welding rod strong enough? :)

Fair point - in this case any split pin that fits would be fine. But at least I know where to get a part number now for cases where it does matter.

Cheers all!
