So i bought some U-bolts a while ago but when i went to fit them the threads were not long enough as if the axles were too thin or the threads rounded straight off upon tightening , im thinking of getting full new leaf springs also so what part numbers do i need to look for ? parabolics or road springs?

thanks.

Paddocks are good, it'll depend on petrol/diesel ... front/rear .... flat/curved profile... HD springs or not ...

Front:
petrol or diesel (alters spring thickness therefore overall leg length of the U bolts)

Flat profile, this one is to bolt to the O/S (UK drivers side) inside holes on the spring plate, the shape is to accomodate for the fact it sits over the part of the axle where the tube turns into the differential

Curved profile, this one is for the other 3 U bolts on the front axle

Rear:
HD springs? this means thicker springs and therefore longer leg lengths than standard

If in doubt, go for diesel on the front and HD on the rear, as you can always wind the nut on further and then cut off excessive thread, if its too short, then it is just too short

If I rememeber rightly you will need 3 round profile front u bolts and 1 flat profile one to suit your engine, (as it came out the factory not what it has now)

On the rear you will need 4 U bolts the same depending on your wheelbase and if the springs are heavy duty or not

if you have parabolics then select petrol and non heavy duty U bolts as these are shorther and therefore less to cut off the bottom after the nut is done up

Get the metric ones if you can. Careful torquing them it’s easy to strip the threads.
