Hi my 1982 Series 3 reverse gear is jumping out every time I try to go into reverse, which makes driving a one way exercise! If I hold the gear stick in it crunches the gears. Does anyone have experience of this and is it a diy fix (for an amateur!)?

Broken spring on the reverse stop mechanism, worn fork or reverse idler.
Get a book or download rave.

Oh btw stick yer face into the intro sections & stick a few pics up, they are a fickle bunch on here
if you just stick up a question with no intro expect to be ignored. ;)
Cheers Kev
