any help with the few questions i got would be very helpfull!!
currently using a 2.25 series 3 petrol engine, but managed to get hold of a 2.5td 90 engine,

do the engine mounts line up with the petrol mounts?
does the gearbox match up to the standard series gearbox?
do i need an electric pump in my diesel tank when fitted?
and how difficult is the wiring for the diesel to set up?

i know these are prob simple things but i not really looked into it

ive just done this very conversion. the gearbox lines up, the o/s engine mount needs cutting out and a new one fitting, you need to fit a fuel return to the fuel tank but no elec pump, and the wiring is easy enough ;)

it needs cutting off completely and re positioning. i think its about 2 inches back. the problem you have is that the original mounting is in the way of the ip so you have to cut the whole lot off back to the chassis rail and start again

yellas right cut the old one off the chassis and make a new one, the rubber will sit much closer to the chassis. The series clutch will fit straight on the 90 flywheel. Other problems are the fan will sit too close to the rad (if you use the series rad). You will need to cut the battery tray/move the battery. The exhaust is interesting to do.

what about the oil cooler? i was originally told my engine didnt have one but its got all the pipe work their for one?????

its built into the TD radiator. 3 options: either use the TD rad and somehow make it fit ( i have seen it done but it's messy), use a separate oil cooler (my preffered option) or use a 90 front end.

option 4: just loop the in/out as unless yer planning to be hauling 2 ton up the M6 at 58.78MPH all day every day the oil cooler isnt going to be of much use

dont bother with the oil cooler, put 2 200tdi sumplugs in th holes ;)

the exhust is a bit of a fanny, you need a td down pipe but you need to space it away from the block by bout 1 inch, then you need to make a pipe. i used a cat and pipe off a 300tdi discovery and it comes out just behind the passenger door.

use the series rad and put a leccy fan on the front of it

i moved my battery tray forward and lifted it up to clear the steering linkage.

Have you got any pics of your conversion yella? i am also doing this conversion is the series rad big enough and is one elctric fan man enough?

sorry folks, i dint tek any pics sept for the ones of me eggzost after it was fitted. i can put a few noters together and answer any questions if anyone wants tho ;)

either wire the glowplugs to a direct feed via a push button switch or buy a diesel ignition switch
