Iv got a series 3, 2.3 diseal and I'm having problems starting it. Iv got champion 1.7v glow plugs but they are not doing the job. Any ideas please??

check plugs work ,can be done with jump leads neg lead on plug body positive touching threaded end should go red quick ,fit good battery

I have to assume these are the old series type, if so if any one of them is badly connected none will work.

Do you get the heater light come on on the dash when ignition in correct position?

If no check for continuity of the ballast resistor on the baulkhead. If that appears to be OK.......

If you have a meter you should be able to get a resistance reading between the earth wire connected to the plug at the front end of engine and the wire in from the ballast resistor at the back end.

the best way to test them is to use the wiring that they are connected to in situ - using jump leads is fine, but it'll not prove the vehicle wiring is sound

Cheers guys. They do work. I have to put a hot air gun in the air intake to start it every morning. Is a glow plug conversion something to think about??
