Had the landy about 3 months now, only issues i have is my passengers in this weather ask me to turn heater off (mine actually does push out a reasonable amount of heat) even when heater is off. I think the cause is just heat from the exhaust warming up the passenger side footwell. I don't have a heat shield on the manifold - would a heatshield lower the passenger foot temperature at all? It runs fine without one so thought i would see if it would help before spending out on one.
 
if i recall the heatshield is an attempt to limit vapour-lock in the carburettor, if your passengers are too hot in a landy with the heater off in this weather, they need to open the bulkhead vents :)

I thought that would be the case,
 
worth checking the coolant tap is working, do the heater pipes go cold when the tap is in the off position?
 
yes heater goes cold when off, i think a heat shield might make a slight difference as the manifold isnt far from the footwell, but probably easier (and cheaper) to put a bit of insulation under the mat on that side. probably will wait till summer as it wont be an issue as the weather gets colder

So theres no heat shielding on mine at all - seen the part number for the manifold heat shield but not the rest of the exhaust. Wondering if it would be cheaper to wrap it but not sure thats good for a standard exhaust
 
There was no heater in my 63 2a, only passenger had anything [ feet ] warm in the winter. In the summer it was a case of passenger putting feet up on dash when they started to roast.:D

Im lucky my heater works fine - maybe you should have rerouted the exhaust pipe through the cab, perhaps a double exhaust, one under the car for summer and one through the car for winter with a large diverter valve to change over
 
If it gets really cold, I'm not going to mess around with mini heaters or stuff like that, ill connect one of these up to the heater pipes and mount it where the middle seat is (gotta go with the old-fashioned style for a series)

Cant see wrap being an issue, shields would not be that hard to make.
