Hi all. Just a quick one. Are the brake servo's on series Land landy's serviceable.....i.e. can they be opened up and the seals and diaphragm be changed. John Craddocks are listing a repair kit but I just want to be sure?.....
Thanks all.

Search you tube for a video the two halfs are screwed together as in 1/8 of a turn but it is difficult to separate the halves , big diaphragm inside need to see if you can source it 1st. there is a small service kit which includes some seals and non return valve.
This video shows how to test it off the vehicle

Just curious or have you a problem with yours
I’d guess the repair kit can be used without splitting the servo, I don’t think they’re intended to be serviceable over and above the small repair kit
What engine do you have
And are you getting enough suction and no leaks at pipes,, one way valve working ok
A while ago on mine I disconnected the pipe to reservoir as I thought this helped the in situ test for mot man as he was not convinced it was working

Thanks. The pedal has gone really stiff and I have to push down really hard on it to have any chance of stopping. I have the hiss when I press down but the hiss remains for the duration I have my foot on the pedal so, I have a leak and after further investigation, it is definitely in the servo unit. That is why I asked the original question. The repair kit only comes with seals and O-rings, not the diaphragm which I suspect is the problem. The series has been retrofitted with a 3.5 range rover V8 and with the extra power, relies very heavily on fully functioning brakes so, it's off the road until this problem is resolved. :(

I think you change the unit if the seal has failed. I did strip and replace the seal on a servo many years ago and I am sure it was made to come apart unlike the later ones. The thing that does for them is oil getting inside as it degrades the seal.

A new servo is 70 quid its not worth messing about with something that's knackered when its quite an important component.

The Haystee Santana servo "should" fit. I measured up my RHD Series 3 and decided it wouldn't quite fit mine, it would foul the steering column / box. If you look closely at the Santana servo it has a cut-out in the outer rim, I assume this is for clearance for a LHD model. In the end I did manage to fit a larger Type 50 servo which is the same size as the Santana servo and its well worth it for the reduced pedal effort but this was done in conjunction with a PAS conversation which moved some other parts out of the way to provide clearance.

I've had that servo in my e-bay watch list for some time and I suspect a few others do too. They never come up which is why I think Haystee can sell them at £200 a go.
