My SWB 1982 Series has been intercepted by a Calibra with the following results..

I had restored it on galvanised chassis with 200tdi conversion.. and I took out a policy from Adrian Flux with agreed value of £5000. However at just 16:30 on the day policy began the Calibra pulled out in front of me with the result that the vehicle is a write off.
Now here the tricky bit, I have photos taken in the last three months of Landy which I submitted but as they were not taken after the policy took effect they say...

Unfortunately we are unable to accept the photographs submitted for the Agreed
Valuation as they were taking prior to the policy starting and they do not guarantee
the current condition of the vehicle. We appreciate that due to the incident you are
unable to take any photographs at this time. However, these can be submitted at
any point during the policy so if/when the vehicle is repaired, updated photographs
can be forwarded to us. It is with regret that we must advise that should the vehicle
be written off then your pay-out may be based on market value only.

Nice!! It seems a mite unreasonable I think, I do have a couple of snaps taken earlier in that fateful day but which I can discuss with them and I have the engineer coming to value the wreckage this week! Any ideas chaps?!!
Thanks!
Charles

Just a question. Whats the purpose of the "wildlife crime police" vehicle? Did a duck or bird get killed at the time of the crash?

You didn't think you could just claim the pictures you took were the same day as the policy was taken out??

I really hope you buy that back of the insurance company. The worst damage looks like a broken spring or spring hanger that has allowed the axle to move. Everything else is just bolt on and off. To be honest i can see it costing more than 500 to get it back on the road.

What have the insurance offered you as payout???

I've the assessor coming this week, its actually twisted the chassis and most panels have been 'tweaked', the rear tub has moved around and the O/S back wheel actually dented the top of the wheelarch!! The impact was around 50mph and this shows the violence..

Ooooo painful. How did that guy not see a bright yellow land rover??????

Thats a shame about the chassis.

Could you find out how much they would want to buy it back if its not cat a or b write off as it really should be repaired.

You never know someone may buy it off of here or at least use all the parts

****! That looked nasty. No injuries I take it?

On the insurance front, I would have thought the assessor could see the work/new parts and value accordingly.

And make sure you get a lottery ticket this week.

LOL Thanks SpringDon! I'm exercising the retained salvage option! I think at worst I should have it mounted like the Hi-Lux on Topgear!!

That looked quite nasty mate, you were lucky you didnt smash yerself up too.
I like the way the callibra passenger just legged it without seeing if you were still alive.
At least with that footage you have a chance legally, the guy is a dumbo.
If it was anything other than a landy then I'd say walk away and forget it, however its probably only gonna be worth what the unbent parts are worth.

Forget the salvage, not much left unless you get it back for sweeties. Bit of a shocker. Glad you are still here to tell the story, had it been 2 wheels...hate to think.Keep us updated and thanks for the heads up regarding the photo situation. I suspect some tube in their office doesnt know what they are slabbering about. Ignore telephone messages, get their decisions in writing then take it from there. I dont think they are right about the photos though.
