Hello - I have a series 2a. It was running fine and has been for the last year, it went under powered and sounded awful. I limped home and now it wont start. It will crank over and there is lots of white smoke. I cranked off all the injectors and there is fuel, I have bled to see if it is air and I have tested the glow plugs. Can anyone help? Thanks

Was there any white smoke when you limped home, head gasket?
maybe a timing check, did it rev ok when driving or stationary

Thanks Steve, yes there was white smoke - not loads but some. Today I checked out the voltage of the glow plug circuit and that all seems fine. In the Haynes I saw this

Is this the timing you are talking about ? Because mine doesn't line up like that

It's not the best photo - but mine is off to the right. Should I line it up ? Thanks and Merry Christmas one and all !

If it happened whilst driving it does sound like a fuelling issue.
Try one thing at a time, is fuel clean, any air leaks, check that pump.
After that try the head gasket route.

The timing pointer on the injection pump are set to the individual engine to take up wear in the chain so not all the same, assuming nuts tight timing shouldn’t have moved unless it’s jumped a tooth perhaps. agree as shedload says check fuel and air first
Sometimes the pick up pipe can pull up dirt from tank and block causing fuel starvation, which drops off when engine stopped, check lift pump is working well and followed the priming procedure as manual.
Is the stop lever in proper position
Check leak off pipes not holed and pulling in air which can cause bad running and poor starting
Is the butterfly valve in inlet manifold working properly
Are you giving 20s on the heater plugs with good battery
