I'm rebuilding the swivel hubs on my 1969 Series 2A - new seals, gaskets, retainer, cleaning up the housing etc.
I made a bit of a mess of the nuts on the studs holding the steering arm bracket in place so I ordered new bolts for the swivel pin on top, and new studs and nuts for the underside.
The bolts, nuts, and studs, when they arrived were too small. I ordered by part number using my 2A parts catalogue. The parts catalogue says they're 3/8, and that's what the bags said when the bits arrived. I tried from Bearmach and Craddocks - both sent me 3/8, which are too small..
The attached pictures show the original larger bolt heads in the swivel pin, studs, and nuts, compared with the new ones arrived in the post. ((also note the slightly different moulding of the old swivel pin and the new one)).
Is it possible my land has an earlier or later axle on the front? Were they slightly different in that they used smaller bolts/studs etc. on the pin and steering arm bracket?
Any thoughts?
