Hi,

Well finally have had some time to work on the landy, and seem to have an issue with stalling and sluggish response from idle.

if left the engine will idle for a up to a minute then just stop, also from idle it take a few good pokes of the throttle to get a decent response. It also will back fire quite regularly when giving it some beans from idle.

It has a Weber 34ich on it, which I have cleaned and fitted a maintenance kit to but it had no effect, I have read that the Weber may not be the best carb for a 2A, So question is do I not waste anymore time/money with the Weber and find a Zenith, or could something else be affecting it?

Unfortunately I am no mechanic (got the landy so I could learn a bit) so any help would be appreciated.

wiv my webber carb I found twas runnin too lean and i slightly turned up the idlin speed to stop the car stallin :D

same as im above - tweeked me idle speed to stop it going out when comin up to junctions, still does it when hot though. pippetypoppetypop on overrun as well, so probably set a bit lean. ah well.

Nothing wrong with the Webber mine works just fine on a 3Beraring 2.25.
Just set it up like the manual says.
Never suffered from Icing even on the coldest nights with a KN air filter.

Well finally managed to spend 10 minutes on the Landy again tonight, upped the idle speed and that seems to have levitated the stalling but it is still very lumpy when accelerating from idle with lots of black smoke, will see if I can get a few hours this weekend to check the spark plugs.

I've cleaned my carb out - seems to have fixed it a bit, whole thing was full of black stuff from the crankcase beather. seems to misbehave more when it's hot, maybe fuel vaporisation or something like that. still works 90% of the time :)

Well took out the spark plugs to find them coated in soot, so a good clean later the Landy is running a lot sweeter and next to no smoke coming out of her.

can anyone tell me how to up yhe idle speed on the carb, and also the correct method to strip clean and reassemble.Im no mechanic but am trying to learn.
cheers
