Hi I have a 1963 series 2a and I would really like to buy an old original canvas top. Happy to repair
And improve. Can anybody help. Thanks

Welcome. Go to the Series forum, there’s a recent post about this. As always it’s not simple. You can buy the sticks and canvas on eBay or wherever and it may be a good buy. Unless you can inspect the canvas tilt don’t buy it blind. If you can get the sticks secondhand great. Don’t worry about the fixings; YRM Solutions and the’addocks can supply these. Reports on Exmoor Trim canvas both for quality and cost aren’t good check the post. If the hardtop hasn’t been off for a long you’re in for a bugger of a job and likely to trash the original fixings getting it off. Its well worth the effort once done, especially when you can roll up the sides and rear in warm weather. Ordinary peps look at you wondering WTF is that! I’ve switched to canvas since March and will keep it until September. If you’re putting a hardtop back on buy a new rubber seal. Takes a day to do.

Any pics of what you do with the seat belts Fixings , I took the top off completely 2 summers ago and just did without the top fixing

I’ll take a photo tomorrow. Before I converted I was worried how this was going to work, a safety belt bar from Exmoor Trim is expensive. When I then started to look at the sticks for the tilt I discovered it’s got a plastic hook set onto the front stick above shoulder height to hang the belt; it works perfectly. Saying that my sticks are original and probably 40 years old and I doubt that you’d get them like that now.
