Guys my series 2 has started cutting out just after starting it's got new filter in has been running fine. I have fuel getting to engine fuel lines are wet when the nuts are loosened. Could it be the pump?

Yes sorry diesel aspirated engine thought I had posted that
Well i had a very similar problem when i tried to get my series 3 diesel to start, it's most likely going to be air in the fuel lines. In my case, i kept cranking it over until it fired and cleared the air in the system, though there are ways of bleeding the system out which are a bit more friendly for your battery

Have changed the lift pump bled the pipes...boosh away she goes! Ticked over for 10 minutes lovely...although revs kept fluctuating. Realised the throttle cable was under some pressure as I had to manipulate the fuel lines as lift pump inlets were a little different. Reconnected throttle started...reved cut out back to square one!!!!!aaaaaarrrrgggghh f!!k thoughts pleeeeeaaaase

have you tried leaving bleed screws slightly loose when it cuts out is there still diesel coming from bleedscrews

has it started again if not release all injector pipes from injectors crank engine over till diesel is seen spilling out of pipes I take it is a cav rotary pump some times they can stick inside a light tap with hammer can some times help matter of intrest whe had a hymac 580d start perfectly cold when hot would not start unless bucket of cold water poured over pup pump need reconditining

have you checked small fuel filter on injection pump it is suated behind male connecting unions for injection pipes the fuel line from filter goes to it there is a union nut take this off and filter is behind it the union nut screws into a female union nut which is screwd in to distributar pump head after cleaning filter befor tightening inlet pipe operate hand primer on lift pump until diesel flows out with no air bubbles

have you checked condition of all fuel pips from tank to injection pump also ones in tank has your fuel system got sight glass bowl if so check condition of rubber sealing washer also no fine cracks in glass some years ago I had similar trubel with ford cargo to find out where air was getting in I took both pips out of tank blocked I off pressurised other to 15psi using foot pump with none return valve on checking all joints I found very small bubbles coming round sight glass rubber seal block off return pipe injection pump stop in run position

hi one or two more thaughts if all above sugestions don't cure it I would get injectors checked in 60 years experience mainly hgy and earth moving plant I have seen a condition 3 times where injector pin sticks on compression stroke air is pushed past sticking pin and finds its way back in to pump if you have a sight glass bowl there is usualy a gauze filter filter under top of housing check suction pipe in tank has it got any cracks or rust holrs if all fails you could get can of diesel take suction pipe out of tank connect to can put can on roof bleed system and see if it will run now that will prove injectors and injector pump by pass lift pump and gravity feed diesel I have used tank off lawn mower engine youcould first try with lift pump still in circuit note it must be gravity feed so pipe must come out bottom of tank
