Hi Guys,
I am a newb to Landrovers, having just bought an old defender to play in. However a friend of a friend has a 1960 series 2 pickup sat in a barn ripe for restoration (which he won't part with, but I am working on it) My question is what should I be offering and what are the areas I should look out for that may condemn it (or aleast make it worth less!) I have only had a quick look and it don't seem too bad but a few pointers where to look and what for would be a big help.
Thanks
craig

The bulkhead mate under the windscreen, if that is shot leave it alone as they are rather difficult to come by. The chassis rear cross member, and the chassis out riggers, mind you they can all be replaced if the chassis is sound, how muck do you think it is worth yourself, I paid £150 for an incomplete vehicle.

Hi donnaig, i bought my 67 2a for £600 and then spent £200 getting it through an MOT 6 months ago, i have learned that most parts are readily available, look for rusted out mainframe, if you can poke a screw driver through it stay away

Thanks Guys,
I reckoned on about £500, but I must admit to having my 'rose tinted glasses' on when I first saw it! - Trouble is I think the bloke believes it is worth a small fortune. Its been laid up in a barn with only 2 walls and a roof for 10yrs+ so it may not be too solid. Will have to go and poke it with a screwdriver!
Thanks again.

I just paid £500 fur a 1980 series 3 wiv lots of new parts and a years MOT.

Which is why I need sound advice from them that know! Think I will give it a miss.
I fancy a series III lightweight. What will one set me back? - with MOT so I can play straight away!

Donnaig, If your ever in Anglesey I'll point you towards at least two SWB Rovers that are probably do able and available I think.

I went to look at a 2a last week that was on ebay. Looked ok in the pics but was pretty rotten really. Fetched 250 quid which I spose was just for the tax exempt identity;)
