Hi there,

Can anyone help please. Have just bought a Series 2 Hybrid (haven't collected it yet), has been built on a coil sprung chassis. The seller (he didn't do the rebuild) is not sure which model the engine (2500 cc petrol) or axles (with disc brakes) came from. Is there any easy way of identifying them from a number or something similar that might be printed on them?
Hope someone can help.

many thanks
Marcus

The 2.5L motor came from the Defender line up and the axles, most likely, the same thing. Both the axles and motor have serial numbers, that you would use for ordering parts. Therefore, if you ask nicely, at your local parts supplier, they can give you a better brake down on the serial numbers.

Hi Tuko

Many thanks for the information, I will have a good look and see if I can identify the numbers once the landy arrives and my local land rover dealer should be able to work it out.

Cheers

The motor serial number is found on the block, usually near the front and the axles have the numbers placed on the top of the axle tub, to the right of the diff.

Good Luck with your new hybrid, I have one and think it's great. Best of both worlds, Defender suspension and the body of the older series 3.
