After a lot of fudging around with the fuel system yesterday we finally got the engine running. Today we installed the AccuSpark electronic distributor and that went well as the engine still runs. Also discovered the brake lights were not working because a wire had disconnected in the engine compartment. This vehicle has a large rotary switch controlling the lights and one position is marked CONV. Looking under the rear end I saw a small lamp and this does illuminate when you select CONV. I recently read about these convoy lights. It seems that when travelling at night the military would turn on these lights which would put a small white light on the ground which could not be seen by aircraft but could be seen by a following vehicle so you could judge your distance. Pretty cool. I wonder what the "Infra Red" switch does?
Not sure what to do next, probably try to get the front doors to close better. Cannot get them onto the main striker catch when pulling from the inside.
Cheers

I believe the infrared switch kills all lights bar dipped heads and then covers are fitted over them which only emits light seen by driver who wears special gead gear...
