Clutch release mechanism is different as is the slave cylinder location.

Yes as above ^^^ check the clutch too. One is deeper than the other....can't remember which way round (in terms of late/early)

parently itsa 1962 series 2a which is avin a 5 bearin 2 1/4 doosil fitted,will a series 3 box fit this :doh::frusty:
 
my gearbox jumps out of second gear on a 2a 2.25 petrol 1969 does any one know if its repairable or do I bin it and get a recon? Cheers Chris.

Probably worn bearings. They are rebuildable. You can get a 'recon kit' from LEGS.

Don't bin a late 2a gerbox!! They are the strongest of the series gearboxes and are very simple and usually cheap to repair. Before stripping the whole thing down, try replacing the detent springs: They cost pennies. I would not advise just jumping in and buing a recon kit if the detent springs don't sort the problem. Strip it down first and find out what's wrong, get a parts catalogue, make a list of the part numbers of the parts that are worn out then order them.
