Apologies for posting here, but I can't post in the wanted section and thought this might get a bigger audience.

I'm looking for a good GEMS 4.6 V8 to replace my knackered engine. I know there a few on eBay, but am sceptical about the quality of some of them. Would rather buy from someone that might be a bit more trustworthy.

If anyone has one or knows of someone breaking a vehicle or wanting to get rid of an engine, with loom and ecu if possibe, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Ruari, Is this the one you've got listed somewhere else?

Dr Evil, who the hell wouldn't want a 7.4l V8 but it would need to take lpg as well and be good for doing lots of miles. I'd done 6000 before it failed, in just over 2 months.

Whatever I get I think megasquirt is going to be the best route.

A 350 would be a better bet then on ally heads for LPG, they get better MPG than my 454 will once its built but you lose about 2L of capacity :p they're only a 5.7L

Just sold a 350 engine which would have fitted into a LR

Ffs, my timing sucks. I would have had that.

Stroking always tend to give a few more inches, so I'm told ;P

I put it up for sale on here two weeks back :p surprised you didn't see it

theres a couple on ebay anyway

To be honest I'd only decided this week to replace rather than rebuild. I was going to top hat my engine as I am a bit reluctant about buying another engine.

But I think it's the best way forward, and I can get an upgrade at the same time :)

I'll have a look on eBay for those, I've only focused on the rover v8 so far.

Power isn't really the prime motivation, but I'd never say no to more.

Just want to find a good engine in my price range, and I could have convinced myself your 350 was worth it.

I built my engine with top hatliners and kent cam very pleased 4l thor engine goes brilliant change radiator whatever direction you go as my rad was what caused my problems

Are we talking full rebuild with bearings etc. or is it just the head gaskets?

What sort of modding would it need? Would it work with the standard R380 manual box?

Apologies for all the questions. But thanks for your help so far :)

just gaskets but you may as well replace shells for £50, R380 V8 bellhousing will work but you'll need an adaptor plate which are available to buy
