does the sedimenter bowl unscrew if it does can it be unscerwed with the main body still in place
there is a bolt on top to release the bowl, otherwise big bolts through chasis& shock mount . good luck they can be a bitch, bypassed mine and check filtter more often- eisier in long run.

ok i have cleaned this out fitted a new filter still no fuel at filter. is there a filter in the tank would it have a electic pump in the tank
also the injector fuse under the bonnet keeps blowing could this be a problem with starting as well

What model, what age, what engine, what have you tried? We int mind readers ya know.
If it's a tdi then check the lift pump on the engine is pumping fuel.

sorry about that
why can you not read minds my wife can (she always knows what im up to) lol
i have a 1996 300 tdi auto and it had about 1/4 tank of fuel parked on a slope left running for 10 min turned off next day went to start and only turns over no fuel to filter
changed filter cleaned out sedimenter put 8 lt fuel in.turned over no fuel, used hand pump no fuel, also took cover off fuse box in engine bay and injector fuse blows changed this and it blew again. just going to get more fuel.

ok just put 25 lt fuel in using the hand pump i get loads of pressure if i crack the large bolt on top (that has a large black pipe connected main pump)to the but if i crack the bled bolt all i get is bubbles.
put some easy start in air intake it fires this but still not running on diesel

still won't start could it be the immoboliser when i press the button with the bonnet open it would beep and lock the doors now it just lock the doors
it will fire on easy start but then stops again
i have just noticed that i have 2 wires on top of the engine that went to a sensor on the top of the head by the air intakes what is this and would this stop it starting
yes i'm going mad looking for any reason it might not start can any one help PLEASE

ok back to square one i thought that i had run out of diesel in my disco 300 tdi 1996 so i put in about 30lt as parked on a slope. turns over but will not fire.cleaned out sedimenter, new filter
used the lift pump only bubbles if i crack the bolt next to the bleed bolt lots of diesel, still bubbles at bleed bolt no diesel at injectors if i turn engine over with battery same thing
has any one had this problem could it be immoboliser
could it be

ok thanks i will have a look in the morning do you know if i can put a wire from the battery without damaging the pump

hi i have been told to look at the stop solenoid plunger it could be stuck in has any one heard of this if you have were is it and how do i take it apart

Stop solenoid is on the injection pump. Before you try anything else, try running a pipe from the engine bay filter (or lift pump, whichever is nearer the tank) to a can of diesel, then try priming it up and see if it works. From what you are saying, there seems to be a problem with the fuel supply from the tank. Hence the bubbles at the bleed screw. I believe the fuel pipes on top of the tank can cause problems.

now i have fuel at the inj pump but not to the injectors only some bubbles on no 1 nothing on the others
is there a test i can do to see if it is turned on i'm not getting a reading from the wire on the pump or can i take out and replace the stop solenoid
also the fuse for the injector has a dead short would this stop the pump
