Second gear is a ba*****d to engage! I've got a 1998 90 300tdi with no end of probs :(
Got some major backlash that has been geting worse and worse and the diagnoses from two differnt people is the center diff (they checked everything else possible!).
Also there is something no right with the clutch. When in neutural and you depress the clutch its fine. However, when you release it (still in neutral) is has a knock/ding.
Anyway back to what i actually want to ask... For a few weeks now its been getting harder to put it in second. Now its almost impossible when its cold and still pretty hard when its all warmed up.
Also this last couple of days ive noticed some vibration (im paranoid now!). When you drive there is continual vibration that sounds like its running dwon the floor on the passenger side. Sounds like a quiet form of the vibration you get when you're in too higher gear. Only happens with throttle and doesent happen when coasting.
Any ideas on the last 2?
Cheers, Chris

GB output splines and transferbox input gear if it hasn't got a cross drilled gear. Ring Ashcroft transmissions (Luton Number) they will help you and will be able to supply all parts nessasary IF any.
