hiya

may i ask does anyone know what the name of these connectors are called please and maybe a place i can get some , including the pins etc plse as i need to extend the wires for my fog and driving lamp loom

also do u think 17 amp cable will be ok, going to fit 2 x fogs and 2 x driving lamps with 55 watt bulbs in each

also wish to put in a second fuse box, so can run a live and neutral into the fuse box then can run auxiliaries off the fuse box, so keeping it all neat and tidy

also need to but another 2 switches for the 4 switch panel but land rover want around 30 quid for the switches didn't know if someone knows a company that possibly sells switches that would fit the panel and also have different symbols on the front of the switches

also been trying to find battery terminal connectors that have an extra section on , so i can then run battery cables up to the second fuse box , instead if trying to cramming them. onto the existing battery terminals

at 12 volts, 4x 55w spots will draw 18 amps, so you will need bigger wiring. 25 amp minimum.

thanks for the info, is there a program that if u input the data it will give u the cable size req etc please

the loom is from land rover, it was on ebay and because is was a LHD just need to extend 4 x wires from where it comes into the bulkhead on the passenger side onto the drivers side that then plugs into the switches

it controls a pair of fogs and a pair of driving lamps,

from the connectors to the lights i will indeed use 27 amps but will i need that sized cable to go just to the switches inside the car, the cable measures 2 mm so outside so do u thinner cable will be ok please as it looks alot thinner than the cable near the light plugs please

i wish to get a secondary fuse bix as i do response work wish to tuck all the wires away so thought a secondary fuse box would be better and neater

to work out the current something uses, divide its power in watts by the voltage. 4x 55w spotlights = 220 watts total, divided by 12 = 18.something amps.

To be honest, this all sounds like a massive amount of faff and expense for some spotlights. Get the switches you want...doesnt matter if they are aftermarket or std LR stuff, and wire it up using relays. Anyone with some reasonable electrical knowledge can do this for you. Never, ever have the full power running through the switches, always use a low power system through the switches to work some relays which carry the high power to the lamps.
Somewhere like vehiclewiringproducts have absolutely everything you need.....relays, wiring, fuse holders, battery terminals, power distribution blocks and spiral loom wrap to tidy it up. This way it can all be configured any way you want, with ability to have certain lamps come on automatically with existing lights, or be overridden manually by switches etc etc

thks for the info

the wiring loom is from land rover and is the complete loom, including relays etc, everything that u need and is an original land rover loom only in left hand drive thats why it was around 30 quid,

the loom came from a v6 double lamp pods with plinthlets, comes with everything apart from the lights

part number stc 53079

is also comes with a 4 switch panel that is tailer made,

just need to extend 4 x wires inside the car from the passenger side to the drivers side but aout 5 feet and thoughts 17 amp wires would be ok for just that section as its only going to the switches etc

going to have the other 2 spare switches for amber beacon and expect will find another use for the other one. etc,
just cant stand seeing wires showing , like to have them all tucked away behind panels etc

looked at the company and they didnt have the switches, maybe the best thing would be maybe go to a breakers etc for them

Well, if its a specific wiring loom for this application, then just extend the wires with whatever guage of wiring they use themselves. Measure diameter of copper conductor and find the nearest equivalent, erring on the larger side if there is no direct equivalent.

thks mate, its around 2mm so i think the nearest one is around 17 amps

am still looking for a suitable secondary fuse box

hi

got a secondary fuse box but thinking of location, no room under the bonnet

got one so can run supplies to it straight from the battery

was thinking about on the passenger side under or behind the glove box, going to run the spot lives etc straight from the battery to cut down on cable size, so i can run my aux supplies off it,

was just wondering if anyone else has put a second fuse box on the passenger side, will only be the case of removing four screws but no hardship plus will be well out of the way from water ingress

put a pic on of the fuse bix i bought

was going to run 27 amp wire from the battery to the fuse box, and will only have cb, amber light etc

was going to mount it on the inside of the bulkhead, the front passenger top cubby box just unscrews and could just place it there so can keep all the wires neat and tidy and out of harms way

These are the pins. You'll need to search the RS website of you need the housings.

hiya

thks, managed to get all the connectors now,just trying to find a suitable place to mount the second fuse box etc

getting there slowly but the weather doesnt help, as were trying to get these brake lines in and as soon as the weekend comes it rains

been thinking about buying a gazebo so can at least work in the dry , but they seem around 150 quid for a half decent one
