I’m after seat risers for my 1986 90 but I can’t seem to find any that fit the early seats, as they have screws rather than the bolt fitting of the later models. See attached pic.

Does anyone know of a supplier or is it a case of making some?

Hi there,

Cannot help you on sourcing off the shelf parts - BUT - I would share with you that I fitted some to my 1998 Defender and found out that it made (for me) the driving position impossible.

I found that the sun visor was eye level so I was stooping all the time, also, to look out of the side window I had to look down to see out.

I'm only 5'10, so not particularly tall or anything like that - suggest that you try driving on a cushion of the same height as the risers and see how it is for you.

Good luck with your project.

I think there from Mud UK the seat risers I had a pair for my 110 Driver seat. It helps in the legs a bit not much. I think you could get away with some box steel tubing from a local sheet metal worker to be fair.

Never seen seat mountings like that before must be a very early design. I had seat risers fitted to my defender and as RobV8 I found them to be hopeless always having to stoop down to see out side windows at junctions and if used thee sunvisors then couldn't see out windscreen. I got them from Exmoor Trim but they have now been removed and sold. I have now fitted a Bulkhead removal bar from YRM and this has worked giving me the extra legroom I was after and was easy to fit.

I've got these early seat runners as well. mudrails wont fit but you could either change your runners for a later type or back up your on own for the existing runners. btw i'm 6'0 and fitted risers to my 98 110, had no problems and extra legroom was, great.
