Hi guys, new member here tho had my 16 vogue se for over a year. Going to be looking at getting her re mapped and want to remove a cat or two for freeing up a bit of v8 noise if possible.

Although not new to tuning I dont have much in the knowledge on these yokes so looking for some advice regarding the cat removal (if advisable) and what it may do to ecu or if a remap can then counter that

Thanks Mark

Unlawful in the UK, and if missing will fail the MOT test as already stated, also silence is what u look for inside a modern RR is it not.

Since when is removing cats illegal? Modern diesels dont get emission tested on mot
As far as I'm aware the new MOT requires the presence of all originally fitted emissions control equipment and in France emissions are now being tested on diesels, just had trouble getting my Transit through, as far as I know the EU have dictated the new test parameters.

well reading up in came into affect from spring 18 for cats to be present so there goes that idea, but still seems to be a lot of companies selling de cat systems for the sdv8.

I was just wanting to free up a bit of v8 noise, the other motor is for being left deaf lol

I see my mind just associates the sound of a V8 petrol engine after 34 + years of owning one when a V8 is mentioned. :)
The 2018 MOT rules regarding the CATs being present when testing is a petrol engine thing, in MOT speak ‘spark ignition engine’. So no CATs and it left the factory with them - no pass.
But now with diesels it’s DPFs, if interference or missing its a MOT fail.

apples to CATS too as far as I know

i believe its the l322 that was before mine and and on those v8 diesels you could hear the v8, especeially if cats were removed tho with all the emissions and cats etc now not quite the same sound, but yea when i done some digging spring 18 the rules on mot changed

No point removing the Cats, the noise difference will be negligable.

If you want more noise remove one of the silencers!

No idea why though the Rangie is a Luxury cruise liner, why make it sound like a speed boat!

Tell that to @Henry_b his needs removing cause it's useless at keeping pigeons away.:D

My Cat is brilliant at keeping pigeons at bay
